✨ Welcome to the fantastic worlds of Tim Burton! We invite you on a journey through the music that made these worlds unforgettable. On June 6 at 8:00 PM, a unique concert will take place in the atmospheric interior of the Zuiderkerk in the heart of Amsterdam and on June 20 at 8 p.m. in the atmospheric interior of the Nicolaï Church in Utrecht, surrounded by the flickering light of countless burning candles.
From the sparkling wonder of Alice in Wonderland to the festive magic of The Nightmare Before Christmas, from the poignant lyricism of Edward Scissorhands to the eccentric brilliance of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, this concert will immerse you in the sonic worlds that shaped Burton's unique cinematic universe.
At its heart is the music of Danny Elfman, Burton's lifelong collaborator and one of the most distinctive film composers of our time. Elfman's music interweaves playfulness with menace, tenderness with grandeur, and is a perfect reflection of Burton's visual imagination. Besides Elfman, highlights include unforgettable moments from Corpse Bride, the cult favorite Beetlejuice, the gothic gravity of Batman, and the razor-sharp drama of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
In this concert, Mystery Ensemble brings Burton's worlds to life in unique arrangements. Expect soaring voices, bold instrumental colors, and an atmosphere that shifts in an instant, from macabre to magical, from intimate to epic.
