Hooverphonic is an iconic Belgian band known since the 1990s for their unique blend of trip-hop, pop and electronic music. The group gained international recognition with their debut album A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular, featuring 2 Wicky, which was included in the soundtrack of Bernardo Bertolucci’s film Stealing Beauty.
Their true international breakthrough came in 2000 with The Magnificent Tree, which became a major success across Europe and the United States. With timeless tracks such as Mad About You and Eden, Hooverphonic developed a distinctive, cinematic sound.
In 2005, the band released (No) More Sweet Music, a unique double album featuring the same songs in two different versions. The album achieved gold status in Belgium before its release and later went platinum.
Over the years, Hooverphonic has worked with several vocalists, each bringing a fresh dynamic to the band. In 2020, Geike Arnaert returned — a line-up widely considered as “core Hooverphonic.” With her, the band represented Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest with The Wrong Place, reaching the final.
In December 2025, Geike Arnaert announced her departure due to artistic differences, while scheduled performances will still take place.
With a rich musical legacy, international appeal and a strong live reputation, Hooverphonic remains a key name for fans of live music and concerts.
