Joshua Burnside is coming to Kavka Oudaan in Antwerp for a concert blending experimental folk, alternative electronica and Irish traditional song heritage. The Northern Irish songwriter, singer and producer is known for his distinctive mix of found sounds, world music and unconventional production methods.
His music moves against the grain: intimate, layered and emotionally charged. Raised between the landscapes of Strangford Lough and the streets of East Belfast, Burnside writes about existence, family, trauma and renewal, set against tense electronica and lush Irish folk textures.
With the critically acclaimed album Teeth of Time, Joshua Burnside confirmed his unique place in contemporary folk. The album was named one of BBC 6Music’s Albums of the Year and received nominations from the RTÉ Choice Music Prize, RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards and the NI Music Prize.
