Semuta makes it palpable that psychedelic rock is far from finished reinventing itself. The five-piece band previously made a name for itself as Zuster Zonnebloem with shows on the Dutch psychedelic rock scene, after which they played a highly successful Popronde tour in 2024 with over 30 shows, including the prestigious closing party at the Melkweg. The five are flawlessly attuned to one another, causing every note to scream from the stage with passion and chemistry.
On April 17, 2026, Semuta released their debut album The Circle Ends Where It Began, celebrated with a release show at Bitterzoet, Amsterdam. On this album, influences from all sides come together, from hard rock to soul and from blues to indie, with a touch of classical harmonies and solid psychedelic rock as the common thread.
The record is a journey to better times and mental well-being. Themes such as capitalism, religion, sexism, and depression are explored in the search for the meaning of life.
After a 45-minute musical journey, the conclusion is provided in the very last sentence. For this album, the band collaborates with Grammy-nominated producer Attie Bauw (Judas Priest, Scorpions, De Staat).
