СОЮЗ (SOYUZ) are coming to Kavka Oudaan in Antwerp for a concert blending warm world, roots, jazz and refined pop. The creative collective originally formed in Minsk, Belarus, around multi-instrumentalists Alex Chumak and Mikita Arlou, before taking on a new shape in Warsaw with drummer Albert Karch and guitarist Igor Wiśniewski.
The name SOYUZ translates as “union”, perfectly reflecting the collaborative spirit between the band members and their musical guests. While their recordings often feature rich arrangements and a wide range of instruments, the live performances are reimagined by the quartet, leaving room for improvisation and collective energy.
With albums such as Это все совсем не то, II and Force of the Wind, SOYUZ explore and rework the legacy of jazz-oriented, mostly non-English-language pop music from the 20th century. Released via Mr Bongo, Force of the Wind received international attention from Bandcamp, KEXP, CLASH and The Quietus, with airplay on BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 6, KEXP, KCRW, FIP and more.
Fans of Khruangbin, Mild High Club and BADBADNOTGOOD can expect an atmospheric and musical evening filled with subtle grooves, dreamy melodies and free-flowing improvisation. The concert takes place on Monday 19 October at Kavka Oudaan, Oudaan 14, 2000 Antwerp. Doors are open from 19:00 to 22:30 and detailed timings will be announced later.
